Lot's Scheming Daughters
What can we learn from these two scheming daughters of Lot? What choices did they actually have? Why do you think they actually had to scheme their father and be with him? What reason do you think father felt he had to bargain his daughters at the door for?
Let's start with Lot in Sodom hosting the holy men at his house. In Genesis 19:8 Lot tells the men seeking out the holy men, "behold i have two daughters which have not known man, let me, I pray you bring them out into you, and so he to them as good in your eyes; only into these men do nothing." Here we are Lot using his daughters as a bargaining tool in trying to save the holy men. What do you think his whole purpose of putting his daughters up for sale basically? Personally I'd my father tried to put me up as a bargaining tool today I would feel disturbed and hurt. I'd be asking myself how in the world could my father do that for these men? Don't i deserve respect to from my father to protect me being in his household ? It made me think how some men have no respect to womanhood! They are them as nothing but a tool of bargaining, use for sex trafficking in some societies, and just beneath a man in living. Look at wage differences in some businesses or even going to buy a car or talking to a female as the Secretary. Sometimes even now it's hard to be treated in equal ground. My thoughts of using your own child to help protect unless they had some sort of agreement to help their father to help the men out? How many times do even children help us out as parents? What do you feel your child deserves in their life to feel the love and protection from you?
You have angels come to your father and tells him to gather his wife and two daughters to flee sodom. Leaving behind other siblings because of mocking husbands. So now these sisters are going to loose their sisters to destruction in sodom. Along the way they loose their mom being turned to salt. It starts to make me wonder what be going through these two girls minds. They then end up in Zoar and finally end up in the mountains by Zoar in a cave. Their father was scared to dwell in the city.
We then learn that the oldest daughter becomes persuasive in talking to the younger sister. coming up with a plan to have a child by their father. The reason being given that their father was old and that no man on earth would come in unto them. The plan that the oldest sister devises is to get their father drunk to preserve seed(offspring). The first sister goes through as planned one night and then goes and tells the younger sister. Then the younger sister does the same thing the older sister did the following night becoming a follower in her sisters path.
Why do we let peer pressure get to us to make choices in our life that can be harmful? I'm life we follow the crowd and go along with what the crowd does. It comes down to the good ole question of " is so-and-so jumps off a cliff are you going to follow knowing their are dangerous rock s at the bottom of the cliff? " have you ever noticed one of your siblings come up with a plan and say you do it to so you don't feel like a coward you jump in and do it as will?
It makes me wonder if these two sisters knew their worth? I know many people we meet come from different circumstances in life. The stories all different , but in the end of all truthfulness we all at the end of the day need to find out worth. What we feel we achieve and look for how we play a role in each other's lives. God has given us many ways to find out who we are through him but we forget therefore we have forgotten how important we are in God's eyes. We all play apart on each other's lives and can impact one another through the kindness God like love to help one another know the worth inside them. Even though I'm life We equip ourselves to know a higher self worth when we begin to let negativity deep in we began to falter. They say in life it takes one negative comment to bring a person down and ten positives to bring them back up. People whose circumstances that we don't know such as a domestic, abuse, bullied, down talk ,etc. Will need that extra care of just learning they are of worth. We can even let Satan's tool of self doubt become destructive in our own life. Sometimes we just need to take the time to search and a reminder that you have self worth and you can impact someone for good. We are all lived and we are children of god.He loves each of so much and is cheering each one of us on. He doesn't want us to feel like Lots scheming daughters that no one will come or be there for us. God wants us to know that he is always there. His ready to hear our prayers. He wants us to go to him and lay down our heartfelt feelings of any doubt we have because he wants us to remember we are one of his spirit children. He sincerely loves us and that we are of worth. That is why he gave us a plan of redemption, the scriptures, and a way to know that he is truly there in our hearts. He hasn't forgotten us his just waiting for us to turn to him.
