Daughters of Lot that Husbands Mocked
How many of us get left out of a family function because of our spouses or child, because another family member has a hard time? Or everyone else in the family knows of things going on and no one tells the person in the family what is being said and then they find out years later because they ask questions wondering why the rest of the family acts different? So many things that can happen with in the family that we can all assume the worst and not know exactly what is going on. Satan destroys families by getting into the core of it. Look at the example that the daughters Lot had happen to them because of their husbands.
Here we have the holy men tell Lot to gather his family to leave Sodom. He goes and tells his daughters husbands "The Lord wants me to gather my family. We need to leave the city. It's going to be destroyed."
How much can the effects of someone in your life play a part in decisions? We find out after the husbands mocked there father an angel came to Lot and told him to gather his wife an two daughters.
Many times in life we go through some sort of mockery because of the peculiar teachings that the values of the church has. We decide to love these values know ing in our hearts the blessings that can be ours.
Looking at the talk from Elder Noel L. Anderson(the prophet) he said" Don't be surprised if at times your personal views are not initially in harmony with the teachings of the Lord's prophet. These are moments of learning, of humility, when we go to our knees in prayer. We walk forward in faith, trusting in god, knowing that with time we will receive more spiritual clarity from our heavenly father. " If these daughters and husbands decided to pray and trust in the Lord they wouldn't have been left behind being destroyed. How many times do we question what is said and ask so many questions on teachings that we are them mocking the Lord like these daughters and their husbands did. Instead of taking the issue to the Lord and get a testimony of it for ourself we turn our backs and do the opposite.
Elder Neil L Anderson also said in the same talk "The prophet’s voice, while spoken kindly, will often be a voice asking us to change, to repent, and to return to the Lord. When correction is needed, let’s not delay. And don’t be alarmed when the prophet’s warning voice counters popular opinions of the day. The mocking fireballs of annoyed disbelievers are always hurled the moment the prophet begins to speak. As you are humble in following the counsel of the Lord’s prophet, I promise you an added blessing of safety and peace." How do stand up to unpopular belief? To stand on our own two feet to stand as a witness to God and for his son? These daughters from the family taught me to think what it is that makes us as believers of Christ different ? People get antagonized for believing. There are still today religious fights going on in countries and people killed over their belief. How can we all become tolerant to teachings and a belief of another that we can help one another build on testimonies? To be able to have that to stand as a witness of God in our own two feet?
