Egyptus Ham's Wife
There not a whole lot that has been written about Ham's wife. We know that she survived the flood. She had to be righteous enough to be included among the survivors for the flood. She would've stood behind her husband as he followed in teaching with his father Noah.
In the Pearl Of Great Price we learn from Abraham 9:23-25 that Hams wife's name was Egyptus and so was his daughter. It is who the country of Egypt is named after. We also learn that she was a descendant of cain. And it was the sons of their daughter who settled Egypt.
It is said that God promised Cain that there would always be a line of representation of his on the Earth. It is also said that the spirits chosen to be of his line knew. That they decided to take upon them everything that would follow to be a descendant of cain such as the curse that followed him.
I think the reason Egyptus was saved her was because she has worth in God's eyes. Plus the willingness to follow God's laws. Through her it was also God's way of preserving all people to stand as a witness to his mercy. Given them a way to redeem them through each line that com as to god. He says in the scriptures that we are responsible for our own sons and not our parents. She had a willingness to follow by God's words and was willing to take on the covenant of helping replenish the Earth. She seemed out God and followed in God's works and bear record.
Egyptian was recognized by her ancestors enough to have a country names after her Egypt. She left an impact on them for that type of recognition.
the things we can learn is we as women can share of our knowledge. We can leave an impact on our descendants. We can teach of the way we came to know God. From the talk Am I A Child Of God? By Elder Brian K. Taylor he says " Coming to know our father changes everything, especially our hearts, as his gentle spirit confirms our true identity and great worth in his sight. God walks with us along the covenant path as we seek him through powerful pleadings, scriptural searchings, and obedient strivings. "
Egyptus must've known her true identity in god. Her absolute worth that brought her to believe in him and have knowledge that she could be saved in him. She probably have prayerful pleadings to gain her own righteousness and to love to see and be a witness to God's mercy on those who were saved through the flood. She believed enough that she stood behind her husband. She got to know God personally and was able to teach her children about them to choose to follow him on their own. She would've learned the mercies that he is willing to give all of us and her alone. She teaches me that God loves all his children the same.He wants is us to be able to make it back to him, by giving us all a chance to know him personally.
