Daughters of Men that Married Sons of God
Genesis 6:2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair, and they took them wives of all which they chose.
I find it interesting that the sons of God are turned away from their beliefs when they marry the daughters of men. Just the same way as noah's granddaughters do when they marry the sons of men. That these daughters of men had such an influence on these men who used to believe in god. That they were seen as fair women in the eyes of the men.
this made me think how much influence we can have On others. In return how much others can have an influence on us. That the things we also choose are a heart desire and can have a big effect on our lives. Even if we think we are strong enough to avoid temptation and stand as a witness to th truth of God's work. It can tear us down if we haven't made the weak strand in our belief or souls stronger.
From the talk He That Shall Endure to the End, the Same Shall Be Saved Elder Claudio D. Zivic said " Even those who have had powerful spiritual experiences and have given faithful service could go one day astray or fall into inactivity of they do not ensure to the end. May we always and emphatically keep in our minds and hearts the phrase 'this will not happen to me.' " The thing that pulls at me from this quote and the daughters of men with the sons of God is the fact we all can falter. We are human and satan does look for ways to get us to fall. He wants us all to join with him in outer darkness. Satan does look for that one weakness in the strand of our faith and little by little he looks to tear at that string.
The talk Small and Simple Things by President Oaks he says in a quote " Many years ago , President M. Russell Ballard described to a general conference audience ' how small and Simple Things can be negative and destructive to a person's salvation.' He taught,'like weak fibers that form a yarn, then strand, and finally a rope, these small things combined together can become too strong to be broken. We must ever be aware of the power that the small and Simple Things can have in building spirituality,' he fair's at the same time, we must be aware that satan will use small and Simple Things to lead us into despair and misery.'" How true do you find these things in your life that either building on the principle of good or evil from small and Simple Things does it take you either closer to the truth or farther away? Many times when we break a rule, law, or covenant i will only do this once. Getting away with it we think I'll just do this one more time again and build on it by the way we keep doing it until in despair. Trying to find out way out when so much pressure is among us. That we find ourself calling on our knees for help turning to god to get us out of it. He wants us to take responsibility for our part by repenting and asking for forgiveness and he then redeems us through his son the rest of the way. Building upon the simple truths that we feel. Hoping we don't return to our habits.
The lesson I learn from these daughters of men and sons of God is we as women have an influencing nature on people around us. By allowing tthe small and simple things in life to bother us giving up the the fight we began to tear down our souls. Or we can do the opposite and build them up resisting temptation and gaining knowledge by ensuring to the end the teachings of christ. We build our role of faith to be stronger so we can keep climbing higher up the rope. Or with each strand of faith that is frayed we pick at it until we tear it down to nothing. Making that point in faith weaker and it becomes our breaking point. Our choice and agency is what are hearts true desires are! We leave our fears behind when we embrace in faith!
