Sarai to Sarah the name change

Sarai to Sarah  What is in a name? By all names what can we learn about Sarai to her name change sarah? How can this name change be established into God's plan and covenants that were made with abram? So many questions taught come across my mind. The situation reminds of when I'm church we give babies a  name and a blessing that they will be known upon in this earth. The name of the world that our earthly parents call us by. Sarai was named by her parents. Under her name she governed her household the way that she felt for as the matriarch. Giving of her handmade to her husband in her way of helping the promise from God be fulfilled. Her name being one of the world willingness of doing our own will. A choice inside our selves to live and choose our agency. We see when God changes Sarai s name to Sarah he also gives her a blessing. What can began to think what is this significance to her name change? Parents name is of the world. Which we a recognized daily on. God chang...

Sarah Losing Faith in God's Promise

Sarah Losing Faith in God's Promise The story of Sarah to me takes an interesting turn. God has talked to Abram and reiterated his covenant that his offspring will be spread among the nations. They would be numbered so great like the stars in the heaven. We learn in the scriptures that Sarah is barren. So we know she was unable to have children. Afraid that Abraham would never be able to fulfill God's promises through her. The felt that the possibility through her was impossibleimpossible. She then decided to give Hagar ( her handmaid) to Abram to marry and bare children. My title might seem out of the ordinary to Sarah, but the lesson I learn here from her was valuable to me. The first thing is a lot of us are taught as children in our parents home about covenants. We are also taught about God's promises and when we have faith in him he holds up to his end of the bargain he made. One of my seminary teachers taught me when we decide to turn from God some of the blessings...

Sarah land of Egypt 1st time

Sarai (Sarah) in the Land of Egypt As the story goes of Abram and Sarah were about to enter Egypt because of famine in the land. Before they were to enter Abram heard the voice of the Lord day unto him" behold, sarai, they wife, is a very fair woman to look upon; Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see her, they will say-She is his wife; and they will kill yoi, but they will save her alive; Therefore see that he do on this wise: Let her say to the Egyptians, she is that sister, and th soul shall live. And it came to pass that I, Abraham told Sarai, my wife, all that the Lord said into me- therefore say into them, I pray thee, thou art my sister, that it may be well with me for the sake, and my soul shall live because of thee. " Abraham 2:22-25 Abraham being worried about his wife and himself being killed asked Sarah to say she was his sister to save his life. The pharoah ended up giving  Sarah everything. The Lord then plagued pharoah's h...

Sarah (Sarai)

Sarah (Sarai) Sarah being the mother of all the ancestors of Israel became an interesting character to me. She showed herself in so many different ways that she was pure human and used her free agency. Her story with her husband, the pharoah, Hagar, her step-son Ishmael, her husband taking their only son to sacrifice him; with all the things that she went through her personal trials and s her personal strengths. When studying her in each of her stories you can see how she would go was not a super hero but the feelings she had as a real human being going through life trying to live and do right into the teachings of god. She just became more than just a story to me she became real. She along with her husband wanted God's promises and gained a learning of life's lessons. Let's dig deeper into her and her stories and begin to see how she grew and possessed human traits we all possess. Sarah Land of Egypt 1st time sarah-losing-faith-in-gods-promise Sarah to Sarah the...

Daughters of Lot left behind

Daughters of Lot that Husbands Mocked How many of us get left out of a family function because of our spouses or child, because another family member has a hard time? Or everyone else in the family knows of things going on and no one tells the person in the family what is being said and then they find out years later because they ask questions wondering why the rest of the family acts different? So many things that can happen with in the family that we can all assume the worst and not know exactly what is going on. Satan destroys families by getting into the core of it. Look at the example that the daughters Lot had happen to them because of their husbands. Here we have the holy men tell Lot to gather his family to leave Sodom. He goes and tells his daughters husbands "The Lord wants me to gather my family. We need to leave the city. It's going to be destroyed." How much can the effects of someone in your life play a part in decisions? We find out after the husban...

Lot's Scheming Daughters

Lot's Scheming Daughters What can we learn from these two scheming daughters of Lot? What choices did they actually have? Why do you think they actually had to scheme their father and be with him? What reason do you think father felt he had to bargain his daughters at the door for? Let's start with Lot in Sodom hosting the holy men at his house. In Genesis 19:8 Lot tells the men seeking out the holy men, "behold i have two daughters which have not known man, let me, I pray you bring them out into you, and so he to them as good in your eyes; only into these men do nothing." Here we are Lot using his daughters as a bargaining tool in trying to save the holy men. What do you think his whole purpose of putting his daughters up for sale basically? Personally I'd my father tried to put me up as a bargaining tool today I would feel disturbed and hurt. I'd be asking myself how in the world could my father do that for these men? Don't i deserve respect to from ...

Lot's Wife

Lot's Wifey Here is a story of a wife being turned to a pillar of salt. makes me wonder how many husband wish there spouse would turn to salt because of frustration they might feel they have? Lol!! The reason why she had been turned to salt was she looked back to see if the city of Sodom and Gomorrah was being destroyed. Rebelling against her husband's advice and the Lord's not to look back. Really what does her story here represent to us? Let's take a look at her and her story. What lessons she happens to teach us about testimonies and looking back and holding on to old ideas. We know that Lot's story he was a host to holy men in his house. Since we know this we can make an assumption that she was a host of hostesses and enjoyed the company of others. Being the hostess tried to make everyone comfortable that entered into her house. She would be a welcoming face to all that came to her house with friendliness.  We also know that holy men came in and told them af...

Women Who Conceive and Loose Child

Women Who Conceive and Lose Child (Miscarriage) It's been now 13 years that I miscarried my own baby. I still remember the day. I was sound a sleep and it was about time my alarm should go off on the morning. I remember waking up from my sleep having the thought so clear as day come through my mind, " Mom I died. I love you! " I remember getting up and going into each of children and checking them making sure they were okay not thinking about my pregnancy. I got up and just felt something was wrong. Went to the bathroom and was spotting a little bit of blood spotting. My thought was i would call the doctor after I drop the kids off at school. It reminded me of years ago the way I felt when pregnant with my second oldest it was happening over again. But the voice rang in my head so clear as day this time. I started to take my children to school. The pain inside my stomach it hurt so bad like I was ready to give birth to this child that's not suppose to be born yet...

Dove Sent out from noah

Dove Sent from the Ark Genesis 8:8-12 He sent forth a dove from him to see if the waters abated from off the face of the ground, but the dive found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned into him in the ark for the waters were  on the face of the earth; Then he put forth his hand and took her, and pulled her in into him into the ark. And he stayed yet other seven days and again he sent forth the dive out of the ark, and the dove came into him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf picket off: So Noah knew all the waters were abated from off the earth. And he stay yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove;  which returned not again. Towards the end of the journey on the ark Noah sends out a dove, a female dove of all. To me it shows the significance of women and the things that a women can provide in life to mankind. Doves have been used as a symbol of peace, love, and a messenger of god. In Noahs story the dove symbolizes a new beginning....

Mother Earth

Mother Earth Why should we study mother earth? What does she have to do with scriptural women and what can we learn of ourselves? She is mentioned in Moses so why not study her.  In Moses 7:48 And it came to pass that Enoch looked upon the Earth, and he heard a voice, from the bowels thereof, saying wo, so is me, the mother of men; i am pained , I am weary, because of the wickedness of my children. When shall I rest, and be cleansed from the filthiness which is gone forth out of me? When will my creator sanctify me, that I may rest, and righteousness for a season abide upon my face? When talking about mother 🌎earth it reminded me of many different things especially the creation. How man came from the dust of the earth. She also had other creations developed in her making. The flood of the earth being a representation of babtism. showing us that all living things need to abide to a higher creators laws and covenants. It also shows to me that she the earth  has pain, and...

Shem's Wife

Shem's  Wife There is not a whole lot about Shem's wife. I start wondering what has she taught me though being an occupant of the ark with Noah, had brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, and mother-in-law. What type of faith and trust she would be had to follow. She must be been a strong lady to be able to follow the prompting of her father-in-law as will as husband. To be able to ensure in faith that everything would be okay. I think about the lesson i can learn from her is following the words of the prophets. Even if the words might seem so far fetched and that there is no rain in the skye. We can still follow the prophet. Gaining a testimony of knowing what he is telling us is true that we may follow in the Lord's way. In Moroni 10:4-5 there is an invitation given to a anyone that reads the Book Of Mormon. (Moroni 10:4-5) And when he shall receive these things, I would exhort you that he would ask god, the eternal father, in the name of christ, if these things are t...

Japeth's wife

Japeth's Wife We know that Japeth's wife was one of the occupants on the ark with Noah from the scripture. My thing was what can she teach me. So I looked her up on the internet. We know from the scriptures she is the mother of the gentiles  and that Japeth's and her offspring are the European descendants. The thing I found on the internet is it is said that she told stories about the events and she is where a lot of the mythologies come from. A couple of years ago my son was reading one of the mythologies in English class. I looked at him and said this reminds me of the flood story of Noah just added information.  So the one thing that is taught to me from her little bit of information of stories is the importance of writing our own personal history. Even when writing in a journal seems tedious our personal experience of living through an event and the way we felt about it is important. I know reading my grandparents stories i find interesting. It lets me get to k...

Egyptus Ham's Wife

Egyptus Ham's  Wife There not a whole lot that has been written about Ham's wife. We know that she survived the flood. She had to be  righteous enough to be included among the survivors for the flood. She would've stood behind her husband as he followed in teaching with his father Noah. In the Pearl Of Great Price we learn from Abraham 9:23-25 that Hams wife's name was Egyptus and so was his daughter. It is who the country of Egypt is named after. We also learn that she was a descendant of cain. And it was the sons of their daughter who settled Egypt. It is said that God promised Cain that there would always be a line of representation of his on the Earth. It is also said that the spirits chosen to be of his line knew. That they decided to take upon them everything that would follow to be a descendant of cain such as the curse that followed him. I think the reason Egyptus was saved her was because she has worth in God's eyes. Plus the willingness to follow Go...

Noah's wife

Noah 's Wifey I've decided to even the women behind the men. They suffered and went through a Lot of the same things that their husbands. I think we forget how much we as women go through for our families. We stand behind each individual on their decision and path they may take. We hope as a child grows that we are giving them the tools they need in life to survive and to hold onto in their values. We strive everyday to be an example to reach our children right from wrong. We also strive for our husband to stand behind them or our fathers and brothers sisters and mothers to be a beacon of light. We try and keep things so much together and to make sure everyone is provided for in the family.   I take a look at Moans wife and think what type of person could she be? She was definitely the wife of Noah but she also had children of her own who she taught values of righteousness to that they carried with them . We learn the Shem, Japeth, and Ham followed their fathers footsteps i...

Daughters of Noahs sons

Daughters of Noah 's Sons Nodes 8:14-15 And when the men began to multiply on the face of the Earth, and daughters were born into them and the sons of men saw that those daughters were fair, and they took wives, even as they chose. And the Lord said into Noah the daughters of the sons have sold themselves: for behold my anger is kindled against the sons of men; for they will not hearken to my voice. Here we read how the daughters to the sons of Noah turn their back on the teachings of their fathers. They turned to the beliefs of the son s of men their husbands. Who happen to come after them and chose them because of their fairness and desires to have them. They married these men turning their backs on the Lord un-righteousness. In return The Lord see them as selling themselves short to the blessings that could be theirs. Re-kindling his anger towards the sons of men. Being born and raised into righteousness and being lead to unrighteousness. They were chosen upon to be mi...

Daughters of Men that Married Sons of God

Daughters of Men that Married Sons of God Genesis 6:2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair, and they took them wives of all which they chose. I find it interesting that the sons of God are turned away from their beliefs when they marry the daughters of men. Just the same way as noah's granddaughters do when they marry the sons of men. That these daughters of men had such an influence on these men who used to believe in god. That they were seen as fair women in the eyes of the men. this made me think how much influence we can have On others. In return how much others can have an influence on us. That the things we also choose are a heart desire and can have a big effect on our lives. Even if we think we are strong enough to avoid temptation and stand as a witness to th truth of God's work. It can tear us down if we haven't made the weak strand in our belief or souls stronger. From the talk  He That Shall Endure to the End, the Same Shall ...

Naamah Zillah's daughter

Naamah Daughter of Zillah There's really not a lot mentioned about Naamah. If you start to look at other scriptures there are hints into the things she possibly learned in her family. The things is as parents teach our children. Then they do what they want with it. We know Naamah's brother and step brothers had a trade that were mentioned about them. So by knowing that we can figure she had something she must be been good at. We also know the lord out a curse on Lamech's household for the things that were going on inside their walls. That being said and being a part of the household we know she was also cursed. Questions I have asked during my study of Naamah are: What does my children learn while in my house during their growing? How can I teach my own children to learn through my example i show them? What are growing experiences i have learned from thwm? What do I hope my children can leave an impression on others by the way they show an example? While a child ...

Wife of Enoch

Enoch's Wife Scriptures don't talk about the wife of Enoch. We can figure out about her though and what type of an example she set in her life by what it says about the city of Zion (city of Enoch). I really wanted to express my thoughts on what type of women she must have been. We know ghee husband was called to be a prophet and prophecy among the people. She would have had to be a strong God-fearing woman to stand be her own self and stand behind her husband. Living was alongside her husband in the city of Zion. Makes me wonder when her husband went outside the home of she possibly went along side him? We know from the Pearl of Great Price that the people of Zion are described in moses 7:18 Lord called his people Zion, because they were one heart, and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness, and their was no poor among them. with that scripture we know she was seen by God with those in the city of being one heart in him, and one mind to serve and believe in his word to lov...

Daughters of Onitah

Daughters of Onitah (3 women tortured for belief in god) Abraham 1:11 Now, this priest had offered upon this altar three virgins at one time, who were the daughters of Onitah, one of the royal descent directly from the looks of Ham. These virgins were offered up because of their virtue; they would not bow down to worship God's of wood or of stone, therefore they were killed upon this altar, and it was done after the manner of the Egyptians. How many of us in life are willing to stand as a witness to God no matter what? These women in Egypt were offered up as a sacrifice as the Egyptians believed. They were burned for their righteousness towards god. Unwilling to now down to worship God's that were idols. Being virgins and offered up because of the virtues they held dear to their hearts. They stood to stand and willing to sacrifice their own lives in God's name. The lesson these women stand by to learn from is stand for truth and righteousness at all times. To be a w...

Adah and Zillah Lamech's Wives

Adah and Zillah These two women were the wives of Lamech. They are also the very first women mentioned to be in a polygamy marriage. the first polygamist mentioned in the bible. There's not a whole lot mentioned about them. Yet we can still learn of these two women by their choices that they made. They also played a significant role in spreading the secret works that man would do in following satan. These secret works are mentioned in the book of Mormon as will. They are works were man made covenants with satan instead of god. What we learn from the scriptures is Adah was the mother of Jabal (the father of tent-makers) and Jubal ( the father of the harp and organ). Zillah she happened to be the mother of Tubal Cain (instructor of brass and iron) and his sister Naamah. To me it looks like they helped encourage traits in their life for living. Adah's  boys developed a craft that they could live by and teach others a bout. Zillah's son knew the metals from the earth and ho...

Wife of Cain

Cain's Wife There is not much really known about Cain's wife from the scriptures. The things that we do learn of her can come studying Cain's punishment. who was she exactly? Moses 5:28 we learn that Cain took one of his brothers daughters to be his wife. It also says in that same scripture that they loved Satan more than god. From reading that we know who she was drawn to worship. That the support of both spouses in worship was the same. We also know she was a part of the first generations that were sent to earth from god. My thoughts on my learning of her is even though they loved Satan they still were in the presence of learning of the Lord and able to converse with him. I think how would I feel of i was in her place? If I just found out that my husband just killed his brother? Could I accept the gate of my husband and leave the presence of the Lord and keep standing by my husband's side? She must have been a strong woman to accept the gate and say " okay ...

Eve's Legacy She left

Eve's Legacy She Left For Us To Learn from I believe a lot of the lessons and understanding that we can learn from the example that Eve set for all of us is that we do have free agency. By having that free agency we learn from her through her example that she set to make decisions based on our own unique knowledge. That those decisions that we make in our lives have an effecting wave force on the people around us and future generations. That in our decision making we should consider and consult with the Lord the things of concern pertaining to our lives. If we have a spouse to even take in their thoughts on the particular matter of concern. She taught the importance of being a partner a team mate of working together even when times for hard and to  love your spouse no matter what and child. Even if heartache occurs. She also taught me that woman have a great influence on the life of men. So if we are supportive in them holding the priesthood or whatever action we can influen...

Eve outside the garden

Life Outside the Garden for Eve Oh how life on the outside of the garden would have changed for Adam and Eve. Can you imagine always having God close by and then leaving and the way you know it hear from him is a voice coming from the garden! How would your life change of you had to go through what they did? Do you think their might be been a time that they could forget about god? What about now bearing and having children of your own? How would you feel now to rely on your labors to make sure you had the necessity needed to survive? Makes me think when my own child graduated from school my thought were i hope a raised him to have what he needs. It makes me wonder if heavenly father feels the same way. I can only imagine that he would. Since they were told to care for the Garden and animals within it would be one of the learning and something they would be able to reach to their children. Now Adam and Eve has to work the land to get results that they were taught with in the Garden ...

Eve sent from garden

Eve Being Sent from the  Garden Before God sent Adam and Eve from the Garden he have them instructions and let them know what they would encounter. H even went over the transgression with them of eating from the tree of knowledge. They were fore warned about what life would be. Letting them know all the challenges that they would encounter now as a mortal being. He also have them commandment a that they should live by on the outside of the garden.  One of the commandment  i found interesting comes from Moses 6:52 that God set up baptism. Even from the very beginning God wanted us to be baptized. Our first parents set the way and example and were baptized. In Moses 3:24 Adam was told to cleave to his wife and be one flesh. What does it exactly mean to cleave? The Merriam Webster dictionary says it means  to adhere firmly and closely or loyally and unwaveringly. So what does that mean for us? Too love hold cherish give respect trust our spouse and vice versa be ab...
