Rachel and Leah Ask About Inheritance
I'm this part of the story we learn that Jacob is told by the Lord to go back to Canaan. He then calls for his wives Rachel and Leah and asks them to leave with him. Telling them that he has seen their father's countenance.Rachel and Leah ask Jacob " Is there yet any portion of inheritance for us? " They told Jacob they were sold and if God said to go to do it.
I find in a society were it looks like the first born make child has a certain inheritance that these two sisters are asking if there is an inheritance for them. They felt they were sold for the wrong reasons from their father. Yet if God wanted them to leave they were willing to do God's will. I find it interesting because I'm the scriptures it talks about inheritance to the kingdom of god. Which as Alma 41:4 those raised to endless happiness inherit kingdom of god, those raised to endless misery inherit the kingdom of the devil. And I'm Moses 6:57 says men must repent or they cannot inherit kingdom of god. And Christ even talked about those who come to him can inherit in God's kingdom. To me these two sisters knew they had an inheritance that could be there's from their father. Yet they knew if their husband was being told to leave they had an inheritance in God's court of they followed his command. Makes me think how many times do we sale our self short causing us to loose sight in our inheritance to god. We take the path in life that we feel would make us happiest but I'm return we hit some sort of rock bottom in our situation. We turn around and look for more. We strive to bring our way back to a happiness with an understanding to the plan for us.
It also has me thinking how thinking how we inherit certain traits that we carry on and teach our children. How we embellish on them their rights to land and being our child. I see when Rachel and Leah ask and say they were sold reminds me that now they felt they were like the handmaid given for things intake no right to a dowery that would be given. How they decided that what the Lord wants them they will follow.
Rachel and Leah felt they had a right to some sort of inheritance in their father's house. That being said they knew they had some sort of place in God's plan for them. They learned to work together and they got along after Rachel giving birth to Joseph. They had way they lived in their father's house that they worried about carrying on with them. When asked and told it was god asking they were willing to give up their living and follow Jacob as the Lord commanded to Canaan.
