Mary Goes to Her Cousin Elizabeth's
Mary after being told of her cousin Elizabeth's pregnancy from the angel travels to go visit her. I'm arrival Elizabeth feels her baby leap within. Bearing a witness to Mary of her divine mission of the child Mary was carrying telling her , "blessed art thou among women." Must have brought some words of comfort to Mary and a confirmation that what was told her by the angel Gabriel was more than truth. Mary never told her cousin about being pregnant. The only way to really know would be through the Holy Ghost testifying it unto her through personal revelation. Mary stayed with her cousin for three months.
This frightful turn of events to find comfort from her cousins word must've helped Mary to continue in faith and understanding of the work she was about to do to give birth and raise God's son. She must have gained a feeling of peace as she saw that the words of the angel were true seeing her cousin pregnant in her old age as will. She gained a knowledge in seeing for herself. She must have felt that her cousin would be the one that she could confide in due to the angels message of her pregnancy and her cousins. Telling her how God makes the impossible possible.
Do you ever look for a confirmation to personal revelation? We're doing sometimes feels our mind but we work to do the Lord's will. Listening to the small voice of the holy ghost can be a powerful tool in our lives. We have so much that can transform and guide us in our life or as in Elizabeth's case bare witness of the truth that God's hand is playing a part in our life. As Mary heard the word the holy ghost has to of witnesses to her that her mission was on the right path. That everything that she could have been fearing was going to be okay. Do or she was there at the door with open arms listening to her cousins words. What peace it must have brought to her. To know you have another's support helps carry us further in life to do the things that the Lord is asking us to do. How many times have you found scared to move forward in an event in your life? How has it been when you've found the right support it helped make things easier to do? How can the holy ghost testify to you that you are on the right path?
One of the other things that Elizabeth said to Mary is "blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord" These word had to bring comfort and bare another witness that the work that she was asked to be a handmaid to was a blessing. She plays such a vital role in her mission of life to bring into the world Christ and to raise him. Can you imagine if she was unwilling to go about what was asked of her to do? She had to be a person of purity of heart, courage to take step and go forward in the mission she was called to in a society that out women away when pregnant. She had to have faith that God would deliver her to fulfill this great mission she was asked to do to become the mortal mother to the savior. The comfort of words spoken by another to give us the strength that we need to fulfill or calm our hearts. Who knows how the holy ghost speaks to another to give us the comfort that we need. How many times have you seen in your life blessings being fulfilled because of the willingness to do what God wants from you? How many times have someone have you comfort when scared to go forward? Or even how many times does just having the support behind you has it been easier to do the will that is needed from you? God gives us others as support system to our biggest challenges and let's us know we are on the right path. Let us all remember those who bring comfort in our life when asked by God to do what's tough to help us keep moving forward.

One thing that comes to my mind is the age differences of the two Mary was very young according to some books I have read, how scared she must of been, because of the stoning of women. Going to her cousin who was much older makes sense, where she could get understanding and comfort, and could feel save. Yet I wonder if she traveled alone or with others, did Joseph take her to her cousin? how far did she have to travel. Roads traveled alone at that time could be very dangerous. how long did Elizabeth live, did she see her son to adulthood? we now that his father was killed. Elizabeth had to hide in the hill side to protect her and John. What a strong women she had to have been.
