Nephi's Wife
1 Nephi 18:19 And Jacob and Joseph also being younh, having need of much nourishment, we're grieved because of the afflictions of their mother; and also my wife with tears and prayers, and also my children, did not soften the hearts of my brethren that they would loose me.
We know that she happened to be one of the daughters of Ishmael that Nephi chose to marry. I like to believe that it is possible he chose the daughter that helped defend him against his brothers with her mom when they tried to kill him.
When you start to look at her for character analysis we realize she went through a lot with her family being in the wilderness and even defending her husband and trying to protect her children. Her character reminds me of someone who is strong minded, spiritually and mentally. She wouldve had to go strong in heart and relied on god for the trials that she did. She went through pain and suffering with her family and she comforted them. Watching the rivalry with her husband siblings had to bring pain even to her own heart by creating a rift with her own sisters. I'm times of need she learned to pray for God's help, especially when the problem seemed to large at hand. She even had faith that her prayers would be answered and that God would hear them to know the right words or actions to take. We know she was definitely a wife, a sister a daughter, a daughter in law and most important a mother to her children. She loves her husband Nephi to plea for his life and loved her children to show the example of living her husband. She had compassion towards other and worked at being a peacemaker. Traits had would have learned from her own mother.
The things I learned from her she was taught and showed an example how to be towards other by her own mother. Taking on the same traits that her mom had. The other thing I learned is when I'm need to pray to God to help in our endeavors. How many times are we faced with a confrontation From a place we don't want to be? Or we face trying to calm another through the confrontation finding compassion praying in our hearts of the right words to express to get through that moment. Putting forth our faith as a daughter of god to be an example of his compassion through us. She believed that God would hear her prayers. How many times do we believe God will hear your prayers. We even believe that through God in confrontation that we will know how to soften the hearts of another. She stood so much by her husband that everything she went through. She loves God enough to rely on him through her situations. The way that we all can learn how to do. Through each situation that is given by faith that he will answer our prayers to help in softening hearts of another.
