Peter's Mother In-law

Found in mathew 8:14-15, Mark 5:22-24, and Luke 8:41,49-56 In the story of Peter's mother in-law Christ walks into Peter's house. Seeing Peter's wife's mother laying there sick in bed due to a fever. Jesus touches her hand and the fever left her. She then arose and ministers to them.(paraphrased) It amazes me the faith she had to of had from being sick to getting up and persuming her household duties. How many of us after having a fever even want to get up and clean house? I know i would rather take the extra time and feel better. When we look at how much strength returned to her and how she was renewed in health we can see how christ can work in us when we feel sick or troubled. When we least expect that renewal to come in our life we feel as though we can do anything. That energy that seems to bring renewal in belief in christ.  Have you ever gone through a period od time that you found that restoration of strength even if it is to carry on in your day through pra...

Mary Returning From Egypt

Mathew 2:19 But when Herod was dead, behold an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, Saying arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child' s life and he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel. The story of Joseph and Mary and the child comes back to reurning to Israel. Even in more verses where Joseph heard that herods son ruled in his stead that he was warned to go into Galilee. Where the next prophecy would be fulfilled that he should be called a Nazarene. I started wondering how Mary's story of returning to egypt from disaster comes to light in my life. As i pondered upon it the thought crossed my mind. She had full faith in god to believe that an angel talked to her husband and return. That god would make a way even in the turbulance of their families life that they would be safe as they returned back to where he wants them to be ...

Prophecy Fulfilled Rachel Weeping

Mathew 2:18 In Ramah was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they were not. Prophecy: Jeremiah 31:15 Thus saith the Lord: A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping, Rahal weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not. I had to do my research on this passage of why it was important an how it could reflect in my life. Ramah was the area the tribe of Benjamin was given. Being the son of Rachel who wanted children so bad to the point she even told Jacob give me children otherwise I die. Even dying sometime after giving birth to Benjamin. So when Herod made the decree to have the infant children under two killed it was coming around the area of Ramah. Wanting the offspring so bad from Jacob I can see the significance of this as later generations are born. Have you ever wondered how someone who has passed on would act if they see...

Joseph, Mary, and Jesus Leave to Egypt

Mathew 2:13-14 The angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, arise, and take the young child and his mother  and flew to Egypt, and be thou there until I bring the word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt. how much trust Mary had to put into Joseph that he received personal revelation on behalf of the family. To get up leave there home that they have been making for them self to raise Jesus in to tech and to grow even more together. To have all out faith that the messenger that was sent for heir safety in the need to go and take courage to leave. How often do we listen in our lives on the behalf of another for our safety? The same goes with that burdening feeling that the holy ghost gives us of danger do we listen or do we stay knowing the outcome can be worse than what we are faced with? God has given us a companion of the holy ghost for this life to help guide us and ...

The Magi Visit Mary and her child Jesus

Mathew 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him, and when they opened there treasures, they presented into him gifts gold, frakincense, and myrrh. I started to think on Mary's example of the gifts of the wise men for her son. She would have needed to accept the gifts on her son's behalf. Which I believe holds a significant value in itself. The hospitality to open her door to the Magi and let them in to worship her son. Then we also have the value of each of the gifts presented to the savior. The value of each one, there usage, and symbolism that it could possibly hold. As we see each gift given are gifts that are suitable of a long to be presented with at that time. My first thing that we get to see is What Mary did and that is receive the Wiseman into her home. Then she lets them fall down to their knees and worship her son. Here to me shows Mary's value to those who seek after the Lord...

Elizabeth's Words To Mary

Luke 1:45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. I was reading the story of Mary going to her cousin Elizabeth after the angel appeared to her. When Elizabeth saw Mary the baby kept but the words in Luke made me really think. She tells Mary blessed is she that believed. This made me think how can God utilize me if I believe in his words that scriptures speak to me. We believe in the church that we can receive personal revelation so the next words spoken spoke to me how our performance in the Lord's work can be done through us which we feel the Lord has spoken to us, the words of the prophet that we hear speaks to us. How can believing in these words can God work through us for others? How can going about performing the work that he has spoken through us in ministering to others be a blessing? The more I read the scriptures the more I see how God works for us, through us, and for others from us. Just lik...

Mary Faces being Put Away by Joseph

Mathew 1:18-25 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.  Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privilay But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unt...

Jesus Annointed by A Sinful Women

Like 7:36-50 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat. And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment. And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner. And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will l...

Women Believing Phillip

Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of god, and the name of Jesus christ, they were babtized, both men and women. Through a prophets words we see that men and women were babtized. Our own belief and faith become a personal choice in receiving the apostles preaching on God's kingdom through his son Jesus Christ. We can then uphold to our covenants that we made at babtism. Let alone these were also Samaritan women. A racially by product from the kingdom of the North Jews and people of pagan belief. They believed in and taught of their core father's of Jacob's well. Yet they were an outcast given now an opportunity of having the blessings. As Philip preached among the Samarians they had miracles come forth. The more they believed in Christ the more people followed and were babtized in his name sake. He preached to them that concerned the kingdom of god. How can us believing in the preaching on the kingdom of God bring us to kn...

Women Persecuted by Saul

Acts22:4 And I persecuted this way into the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. Saul(Paul) was a Jew but he was also a Roman giving him a path to people's home. During a time period in his life he persecuted the newly saints hauling men and women off. The idea that he persecuted the church so much to destroy the believers hearts. Even today in countries around the world we find people in churches. Even in Sauls time when he was coming after them they still held fast to their faith.  Could we risk everything to process and hold strong that faith in christ? Could you even put your family above all to proclaim the faith? Could we remember the scripture from 1 Peter 3: 13-17 even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness,....  sanctify the Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you...... Mathew 10:22 state that man will be hated for his namesake but those that...

Christian Women Imprisoned by Saul

Acts 8:3 As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering into every house, and taking men and women committed them to prison. Have you ever felt persecuted for your beliefs or the church you belong to? Here we find Saul persecuting the new members of Christianity. There beliefs were questionable and many did not want to believe that Christ has finally come and was resurrected. The old covenants of the old testament had been fulfilled with a change to adding into the New covenants now. Moses law had now passed it way to bringing a new life and more to hope into in the New Testament. What did that mean for the beginning of the New church and these women that became imprisoned. They needed to holdfast to God's word and even when persecuted follow his will. That meant they stood strong even when days were tough and tribulation aspired. Many times we feel that living God's word becomes hard even pick and choose what we want to live. How can we truly believe one thing is right a...

Candace

Queen of Ethiopians Acts 8:27And he arose and went and behold, a man to Ethiopia, an Eunoch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasures, and come to Jerusalem to worship. Who exactly was Queen Candace of Ethiopia? Here we are he Eunoch run into Philip to worship. Being the one in charge of all her treasures. In Ethiopia there is a history of many different women rulers. Candace was known to be famous for her military tactics. As a warrior they fought alongside their men. What has come about today in knowing of Candace comes from Roman history and excavation trips. The queen played a prominent role into the lives of her people. It is even said that Alexander the great felt he had to conquer her. The women rulers were known as Kandake and ruled in their own particular way. History even says that Candace eventually converted to Christ. How as a women today can we resume leadership roles? Many of us as women don't realize we ...

Leah Feelings of Less than Loved

When you think of Leah's Story and love what comes to mind for you? Do you think of the feelings she had about self love by the names that she named her sons and handmaids son? Even the way she sought out attention from her husband. Declaring to her sister that she had stolen her from her. She never felt like she felt favor from her husband (ut through her line of her son Judah she had favor of god to bring about his son. Leah's first son was named Rueben which Leah declared at that time "that god has seen her afflictions" (Genesis 29:32).  How many time in our life we see some sort of blessing from God whatever it may be depression, searching for love, feelings of inadequacy, maybe even like Leah feeling rejected by friends, family, self-rejection. Whatever the situation it happens to be the same side bar that Leah was walking in her life. what is that made you feel like god was seeing you through your afflictions? What blessing did you see that god blessed you wit...

Daughters Receive the Gospel

Doctrine and Covenants 25:1-2 ....All who receive the gospel are sons and daughters in my kingdom.....concerning God's will, and if thou art faithful and walk in the paths of virtue before me, I will preserve the life..... These words were told to Emma Smith, but I feel that these particular words ring true for all of us concerning being part of God's kingdom. How God considers us sons and daughters that come and believe in his word part of his kingdom. Have you ever considered God will in your life? Many times that I have contemplated myself. At times I have been wondered why I let go of the gospel teachings I believed in so much as a child. Have you ever wondered what it means the gospel of christ? If you Google it the meaning comes up as the good news. I know that for many it is hard to except that their could be any good news to their life that can transform them from the pain or anxiety, the emptiness that they might be feeling inside themself. Many of us including mysel...

Faithfulness of Lamanite Wives

Jacob 3: 5-7 Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins, are more righteous than you; for they have not forgotten the commandment of the Lord, which was given unto our father—that they should have save it were one wife, and concubines they should have none, and there should not be whoredoms committed among them. And now, this commandment they observe to keep; wherefore, because of this observance, in keeping this commandment, the Lord God will not destroy them, but will be merciful unto them; and one day they shall become a blessed  people. Behold, their husbands love their wives, and their wives love their husbands; and their husbands and their wives love their children; and their unbelief and their hatred towards you is because of the iniquity of their fathers; wherefore, how much better are you than they, in the sight of your great Creator? As Jacob the prophet was talking to the Nephites he ex...

Zipporah

What are the many things we can look at when we look at Moses wife Zipporah? She was given by her father to Moses in the wilderness. She was willing to follow Moses to help save the Israelites until she went back to her father . On her travels with Moses she helped save him by cutting off the foreskin of her son when Moses was wrestling with an angel and then she called Moses a bloody bridesgroom. What significance can this all mean for all of us in covenants that God created for us? How many times do we watch others in our life wrestle with the teachings and covenants that God makes with us? Wondering day in and day out why he asks us to follow certain commandments that he has given us? Yet as we see even Moses and Zipporah knew what God asked the of the Israelites. Yet we get to see the struggle of following that commandment that was given to Moses and Zipporah probably even learned; otherwise she wouldn't have known how to stop the fight. She teaches us even in marriage we all ...

Zipporah and Her 6 Sisters

In Exodus 2:15-22  we find Moses fleeing from Egypt to the desert running into Zipporah and her six sisters trying to  water  their sheep with other carriers chasing them away. Moses helps defend the sisters so they might water the sheep making their work easier and able to accomplish the daily task at hand. When they return home their father was surprised they were done early and all 7 of his daughters explain what Moses did for them. With their father asking why they left the man at the well? These seven sisters had the help of one man to help carry on there daily task of feeding the sheep. When we think of the savior and him asking us to feed his sheep. How can one person help us along to carry out doing that exact task when all around us seem so hard to go about? When the world seems so out to get us? Many times it takes one person to say listen to the message that is at hand and defend what we have to say on Christ's behalf. The sisters were able to water their she...

Pharoah's Daughter

The Woman Who Saved the Baby Moses Many times we wonder how our simple acts of kindness play an impact on someone's life. When we look at Pharoah's daughter in rescuing Moses from the river we get to see the act play out for Moses. We get to see how one woman's decision helps a nation. Instead of leaving the barge in the water she became curious to what could be crying. Gaining as we look upon her the compassion she gives to a baby that goes on and save many. Her status in the court would have given the baby protection, and  to face her father could have given her execution as will. Would type of influence she must have had to save this one soul from being destroyed like so many other children around that time. Her wisdom on letting a Hebrew raise the child she found when confronted have way for Moses to be taught in his young age to know his own people's way. It makes me wonder how much she knew about the Hebrews that she was able to teach him as will or if she b...

A Woman Builds Her House

Proverbs 14:1 Every wise woman builder her house; but the foolish pluckers it down with her hands. This scripture is hitting me hard the past couple of days made me think what am I coming in my own home to teach my children the importance of being wise and foolish? Especially since we are the biggest teachers. We are also the one that seems to maintain so much on the forefront of the home even if rules have been reversed we as women deal with alot.  We seem to be the first to wake up the last to bed, checking all the doors making sure each child is comfortable, we sacrifice to teach and show our children and gets the best that we can be with God or with out god. We seem to want always the best for thwm. Searching when nothing else is there to give. so how can we be a wide woman in our own homes to bring the type of peace we would like for all that live there and all that enter? How do you feel your being a foolish woman in tearing down things that trully matter in your values in ...

Naaman's Wife

Naaman's wife is mentioned in 2 Kings 5:2-4 of with  The Unnamed little maid . We find out she is the wife of a war hero. She listened and took the issue of her husband to the king of Syria with the news that her husband could be healed by a prophet. Her role as his wife must have been great for the honor her husband held as a hero. How could one woman believe in the word of her maid? It makes you wonder how His prepared her heart to be in a listening point that she would be willing to help her husband. How many times in your life do you ever feel like God has prepared or even preparing you to accept his hand in your life? All the wars, all the things she must have been through while her husband was away. What seeds could have someone planted in her to trust a small Jewish girl whose faith for another would bring a miracle in her families life? The words and faith to trust someone insignificant in a holding position brought action to act by many. A seed was planted by a testimony ...

The Unnamed Little Servant Girl

Her story is found in 2Kings:1-15 Naw man a captain of the host of the King of Syria being a great man and honorable was given by the Lord deliverance of Syria.  He was a mighty man of valour but he was also a leper. The Syrians had gone out by companies and brought back by companies slaves. One of them that was brought back became captive out of the land was a Little Servant girl who waited on Naaman's wife. She understood what was going on and suggested to his wife that her husband seek out the prophet Elisha who God her Lord was with in Samaria. And that he could help heal her husband of the leprosy. The wife and all the others that were with her went about telling Naaman and the king. Which started a chain reaction to a man deciding if he should follow a prophets word turning away and then testifying that God of Israel is the only true god. This little servant girl served her mistress daily. Do you think she felt that they would listen to her word and start a chain reaction...

The Woman of Canaan

The Syrphecian Woman Matthew 15:22-  , Mark 7:24-30   In both of these books we find a woman who can put of the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. She called into Christ saying that her daughter was previously vexed with a devil. He answered her not a word. The disciples came and said send her away. She growth after us. But he answered and said that I am not sent for the lost sheep of israel. Then she came and worshipped him saying, lord, help me. But he answered and said it is not meet that I should take the children's bread and to cast it to the dogs. And she said truth, lord yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from the masters table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, I woman, great is that faith: be it into the even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. This woman went looking for an answer from Canaan. She sought Christ out to help her in healing a loved one. She didn't want her daughter to be tortured in any way by day and e...
