Faithfulness of Lamanite Wives
Jacob 3: 5-7 Behold, the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins, are more righteous than you; for they have not forgotten the commandment of the Lord, which was given unto our father—that they should have save it were one wife, and concubines they should have none, and there should not be whoredoms committed among them. And now, this commandment they observe to keep; wherefore, because of this observance, in keeping this commandment, the Lord God will not destroy them, but will be merciful unto them; and one day they shall become a blessed people. Behold, their husbands love their wives, and their wives love their husbands; and their husbands and their wives love their children; and their unbelief and their hatred towards you is because of the iniquity of their fathers; wherefore, how much better are you than they, in the sight of your great Creator?
As Jacob the prophet was talking to the Nephites he exclaimed to them that their brethren kept and honored their wives. The Lamanites observed a commandment from God that was given to all the people to have one wife and no concubines. They even observed in their family love of a husband for his wife, love of a wife for her husband, and with the example of love towards their children. What kind of an effect do you think that they had on the children to see their parents showing love towards each other? Here we get to see a promise that the Lord let's Jacob tell the monitors how he will be merciful but also he will not destroy them, and they will even be a blessed people.
There is a saying that says " husbands that love their wives show their children to love and respect them as will. You are teaching your children what they should be or what they should look for in a spouse. " Oh the things we teach a child with in our home from the actions we provide. Here is a quote by Tony Gaskins, " a man's success is measured by what his wife and children say about him. Money and accomplishments mean nothing of you let your home fail. " I find this to be so true! Especially when the man questions why don't my children want to be around me? Yet here is the man treating his wife with disrespect yet children they love and want to protect their mother. They hate seeing their mother cry daily or feel rejected because of the father in front of them wants to be disrespectful towards who they love. It's even vice versa with a woman. Woman's hearts are tender. They love So much and refuse hardly to give up on anyone. So when a woman's heart is broken it's not that they have given up on their husband it's because they found a voice within themself to know that God cares. I see how Jacob says he will not destroy the man because of the observance of love in the home towards his wife. When a man has in his family a goal to show his wife that he can meet her needs of loyalty, attention, love, affection, respect, and quality time. The man usually in return gets the same gift back from his wife. And even a greater blessing of having his children show that same examples back towards him and to society. Satan's best tool in ruining a society is to destroy the family from with in. In proverbs 22:6 train up a child the way he should go: and when he is old, he will depart not from it. How does that make you think about the way we love our spouse show the children? It's our examples in the home that teach our children the first things in life and how we treat another person. It is the love we give to one another and respect that we show. How would you want your own worth to be measured? We always want the best for our children and the best we can give is to have that love and respect come from within the home. Each person has their own struggles and each home is different but the one thing that Jacob tells the Nephite men is that they will not be destroyed if they love their wife. As they observe and keep that commandment God will be merciful into them. I believe that to be true because as the golden rule even states do into others as you want some into you. Or as many believe karma will strike back at you. It is within ourself as women we teach our children. As Elisha the prophet taught in Malachi 4:5-6 "And he shall turn the heart of the father to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." How much of a sacrifice to give of time to show the children love towards their mother can have an impact on turning their hearts towards them in love and worth that even Elisha the prophet spoke of them the hearts towards love and respect of their own father. It's amazing that how much of an effect that love towards each other plays a role in society begins in the home. Families have such a strong hold and each great man always has a woman that stands behind him in his endeavors and that must be because of the way he loves her. That from the laminates example of love towards their wife and keeping his commandments we see how God will show mercy and help us become a blessed people.
