The Magi Visit Mary and her child Jesus
Mathew 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him, and when they opened there treasures, they presented into him gifts gold, frakincense, and myrrh.
I started to think on Mary's example of the gifts of the wise men for her son. She would have needed to accept the gifts on her son's behalf. Which I believe holds a significant value in itself. The hospitality to open her door to the Magi and let them in to worship her son. Then we also have the value of each of the gifts presented to the savior. The value of each one, there usage, and symbolism that it could possibly hold. As we see each gift given are gifts that are suitable of a long to be presented with at that time.
My first thing that we get to see is What Mary did and that is receive the Wiseman into her home. Then she lets them fall down to their knees and worship her son. Here to me shows Mary's value to those who seek after the Lord and inviting them in to get to know him. So long our life paths we get to meet complete strangers or maybe even an associate that knows and heard of God and comes to us wanting us to let them in to our knowledge. They probably are searching for a way to worship, because they have learned of him but unsure how to go about it. Can we be willing to accept them in we help plant seeds of faith in them. We help them gain even more to their testimony and to build on their faith. Today I think when I have been scared to share my own testimony with others, because I was scared of what they think. Now I think what is it that my testimony can do that might impact them. Little did I not realize I was weakening my own testimony. Each time we share we develop our own faith but also develop another's faith as will in knowing our savior and god. It is through me that I am being an ambassador to his word.
The next thing that came to my mind with the Magi is how Mary graciously accepted the gifts on her son's behalf. Here we have wise men presenting gifts to a young child. This young child they knew was coming into the world through prophecy and they knew the prophecy. We then have the mother of the child accepting the gifts with her child at hand. The thing that I was impressed on is how many times do we do service to others and we play it off as though it was no big deal? Do we ever think how much those words or tokens of gratitude mean so much to that person? Do you ever think how hard it might be for them to say thank you, because their price got the best of them or the shyness of just accepting but they sucked it up and let you know they were appreciative. To me Mary's example shows me how we can graciously accept gifts on another's behalf. Have you ever thought about the way we accept another person gratitude to the service that we give. Can we show how much we cherish them by really accepting what brought them to the gratitude they give us. Can we accept it the way the savior would seeing that it trully comes from their heart. How they searched deep down in their hearts because they are grateful and don't know how to repay you back. Just the way we feel that God has given all his son for us. The way we accept it back is also the way Mary did for her son.
Another thing that came across my mind was the way the wise men fell down to worship the young child. Mary allowed them to give that respect. They were showing to the child in times of old means of kneeling down was a respect to God or a King. Which made me think about when we pray to God. What is the symbolism to us all when we kneel down on our knees and pray? So why do we kneel to pray then? Looking at what the wise men did in kneeling and the reason in old times of knelling to the king in great respect to God. I have a hard time being down on my knees because they are bad. This made me think and try to put as much as I can to kneel down and pray. Its the worship and respect that we give to God as we come in prayer in reaching out in prayer to a royal father that we have in heaven. we are showing him that we are recognizing him in our speech as a higher life line to want to speak and hear his words back to our souls. we are showing him that we have enough respect to show that while we are bowing down and giving worship that he can do all for us in a change and saying I know that you can bring all greater things than I can by myself. It also says I need you there in my life.
have you ever really think about the gifts that were given? The first gift given is the gift gold. What is it that you think about gold? Did you know that gold in its true form of purity is soft and pliable and more valuable than any other element around? How can that virtue of gold be relevant to us in pure form to Christ and our self? the wise men gave it as a symbolism to Christ is our King. He is the one that is pure enough to bring us and intercede with God. From even the desires of our worldly wants. That the atonement of in all its purity of what it offers us in finding peace in our life. That Element so many seek for in life for us spiritually comes from the savior. Were so many find it hard to achieve but can be done when we seek and follow diligently with. How many of us feel that it is hard to achieve but when found in its softness is more valuable to us for eternity.
Have you ever looked at the healing powers that people believe that gold hold and what Christ does for us. The belief of balance and harmonizing the body, mind, and spirit. Which people also believe that it has an improving mental attitude and emotional state promoting an increase energy, will power and mental focus. What do we seek that Christ can do for us when we seek Christ out. We have a belief that when we come to him that we can find some comfort bring in harmonizing in bringing balance to the flesh with the spiritual needs that Christ gives us. Making why Christ most valuable and sought out for in our own personal life to get to know him better. the purity in living a Christ-like life according to our Savior can bring a valuable tool for balancing some things inside of us.
Now frankincense is primarily used as a perfume. It is used as a symbol of diety as to God. It has been used in times in churches and even temples in past as an offering to the lord in relating our relationship to god. The healing properties of frankincense I feel relates our relationship with Christ and God. As frankincense can provide relaxation and reduce even anxiety. As we seek the lord we kind find a source of comfort from knowing he is there. It also has a tremendous healing power that can rejuvenate. As we seek Christ out many people find that he is rejuvenation to our souls. We find a healing that can be found in knowing him that can sit our spirits free. If you ever gone through a repentance process were you lay everything down on the table out to god crying your heart out you find a renewal and a place of relief that god is setting free our spirits to remembering him. Which in the end frankincense has its return in it weight in gold.
The gift of Myrrh which is commonly used in anointing and purification of the body. What gifts so you feel that the savior give to us in purifying us to see god again? Myrrh is a protection of infection and calming of inflammation and even prevent wounds from hemorrhaging. It even supports health and kill harmful bacteria. What does Christ do in all aspect of life when we seek for his help? Like myrrh there is protection against evil, and calming the inflammation in our deepest wounds. Killing the harmful sins that we might suffer from or even the deepest wounds that someone might have caused upon us.
The Wise men's faith to seek out the savior gifts a medicinal and prophetic emblem of jesus. Those gifts being given to a child accepted by his mother were given to the prince of peace and in symbolism to the king. That can bring life to us all in him. who came into this world that see not might see. John9:39
