Naaman's Wife
Naaman's wife is mentioned in 2 Kings 5:2-4 of with The Unnamed little maid. We find out she is the wife of a war hero. She listened and took the issue of her husband to the king of Syria with the news that her husband could be healed by a prophet. Her role as his wife must have been great for the honor her husband held as a hero.
How could one woman believe in the word of her maid? It makes you wonder how His prepared her heart to be in a listening point that she would be willing to help her husband. How many times in your life do you ever feel like God has prepared or even preparing you to accept his hand in your life? All the wars, all the things she must have been through while her husband was away. What seeds could have someone planted in her to trust a small Jewish girl whose faith for another would bring a miracle in her families life? The words and faith to trust someone insignificant in a holding position brought action to act by many. A seed was planted by a testimony that a prophet of God could heal another human being. She believed in the little maids testimony and faith enough to seek out help to help her husband. That little faith planted hope in Naaman's wife to ask the king of Syria to send for leprosy husband and the king in return to ask the Israelites king to ask a prophet to heal a man that was delivered by the lord. To bring about faith testing acts to all involved.
I think how hard it must have been to have this military wife being with out her husband the years of war. I think what such trial she went through to be a support and love her husband in spite of his leprosy. How strong she had to be to hold her family her household together and even keep it together herself in all the time of need she faced. The wives eagerness to try anything and gain faith and take action on another person's word place her of the things that mattered most to her. The one she married her husband. What comfort and peace of hope that had come from a trial of being apart because of the leprosy. The word of a prophet that could heal! She was fortunate to have a maid that cared about all their will being and spoke up to give the words of encouragement and hope. With the line of bringing many people in align to feel and hear a story of a miracle and struggle to accept the words of a prophet from her husband. Yet it brought a testimony from naaman of the true god after idols were worshipped.
She teaches us that when we hear the word a of god we need to take action. In that action we can seek out help from a person who might know more to help bring about a learning in our life. They can then bring someone else in that understands more of God's word and will pray for us in our search to help bring God's word even closer. That person can help seek out the lord even on our behalf that he will help us come forward in knowing him more. We can then struggle to follow through on those words to take further action on getting to know God turn away and have a good friend say to us. Why not believe the words spoken take action do what is needed to move forward. Bringing us to cleans ourself and trust in the Lord he can heal us. When we take that action to be healed by the Lord we can testify trully all the ways he has played a part in our life to bring forward our healing in the lord.
