Sarah and Hagar
The things we can learn from both these women
Makes me wonder what type of relationship both of these women actually had with each other. There are things online that they actually got along good such as when gusts visited Sarah encouraged them to also go and visit Hagar. Both of these women had a strong persona in their belief in god each faith differed. Their experiences differed as will. They both represent different aspects to our lives and to the covenant that God made with us on the earth.
The births of Ishmael and Isaac have been used as allegories in time by prophets and those who are Christians that believe in the writings of the bible. Paul in the bible used the allegory of Hagar and Sarah as Hagar being of the Old covenant bore Ishmael and Sarah being of the new covenant bearing isaac. What could that possibly mean to us. When we look at Hagar she was a bondsman given to Abraham to concieve. Her situation came down to desperation in wanting to fulfill God's covenants, the promises and offspring that God talked about with abraham. Such as in our life in desperation of getting through trials or trying to figure something out we try to solve it ourself. We become a slave to our own addictions,sins, way we want to live, not willing to wait for the time that God as appointed. We sit and try to figure out the way we should proceed in our own without his help making us like a bondsman a slave to our own ways. Where Sarah was a freewoman. She was given God's laws and knew exactly what was expected of her. With the birth of her son Isaac becomes the representation of the freedom of promises fullfilled. She subdued to the pain of being barren and the feelings of being told she would have a child in old age even laughing at the thought. God fulfills the promise that she would have a child representing to us the new promise but also God fulfills what he says in due time.
Both of these women had great faith, spiritual experiences, God providing a way for them in their lives as will as being a teaching tool to us.
Their may long delays in our life that we don't understand why the things are happening. We might try to do things even on our own with out consulting with god in prayer. The delays in our life might be brought on by choices we make but when we let our righteous desires in our hearts by having faith, being patient promises blessings can come out way. At time it may be hard like Sarah teaches we may take it in our own hands but what pain do we actually leave ourself? Blessings are ours to obtain even after a long suffering. God can still pour out his love and give us blessings to be able to feel joy in our life like sarah. And like Hagar God sees us and hears us in our trials.
