Rabekah's Mother

So many women in the scriptures get overlooked. One of them happens to be Rebekahs mother. Her feelings of wanting to spend time with her daughter before she leaves. The gift that the servant of Abraham gives to her. Asking that the servant even respects her daughter's choice and the willingness to ask her daughter to stay longer.

As a mother I know I would feel the same way to spend those last little bit of time before my daughter would be married. Even in ancient times it was still hard to see your own child leave and grow up. Rebekahs mother is a prime example of this. She asked for ten days to still spend with Rebekah before she left the hoise. The servant was persisted that they needed to leave soon and that they couldn't wait. She knowing agency was then asking the servant to let her daughter choose whether she wanted to go. The willingness and heartache that has to come to her when her daughter said she would leave with the servant right away. The way her mother must have felt knowing her daughter was now off on her own. What thoughts would cross your mind? Have you just ever wanted your child just to stay by your side no matter what stage in life they are at? What advice would you want your child to remember as they go out on there own? If small how can you teach them the things you would want to remember? 

So many times in life during the different stages we see them go through we just want to hold tight? Remember that moment for that moment in time? Sometimes it's hard and we as a parent just want to keep them close and safe but what growth would they have if we didn't let go that first day of school, walking, talking?  what growth would you have not gained if you didn't send them off on their first big moment? We all want our children close because we raise them but The growth they gain and we gain is only gained through experience alone. Not by us talking about it. That is why heavenly father sent us down to get out earthly bodies. We needed the experience to learn to be like him. To realize in life the joys and heartache that he must feel watching us go through our trials. He gave us the opportunity like rebekahs mom did of choosing life. What are you going to do with that earthly experience to learn to be like god?
