Rebekah them more the travel to go and marry Isaac. When she gets done traveling and they get to the destination she asks the servant who is in the field. She gets told that it is her husband to be. She then quickly covers her face and gets down from the horse and greets him. Then they are wed. The last thing that we are told is that Isaac loves her.
We see from the beginning the great respect that rebekah showed her self and her husband before meeting with the tradition of covering her face. We also see from this that Isaac loved her as will. What greater gift can a woman have in a marriage than the true love of her husband? What would you consider to be love of your spouse? How can you show that love back to them? Many times we think of love as just a gift that comes naturally. Sometimes we actually meet or marry that spouse or child or other family member that is difficult to love. I have heard stories from people who actually turned their life around on their way of heading to prison or homeless, but actually turn their life around because they said " they felt worthless all their life. It was that one that actually showed them that they cared that helped them change and made a difference in their life! " How can we be a difference to those in our life to make a difference? How can we show them love instead of giving up on them? Have you ever. Thought about the long lasting impact you have had on someone's life because you didn't say to them "hey you do yada yada yada i can not hang out with you or associate with you. Even though your not bringing me down but I'm turning my back on you." I still remember in school i had a friend come up to me and tell me I shouldn't hang out with so and so because they smoked. Years later this friend told me because of my friendship and not turning my back on her decided to look into the church. Never thought about joining because of the way she was treated by others but because of my behavior and others with the same outreach decided to join. We didn't look at her different because she smoked we looked at her as a friend. " Its the impact and love and kindness we show others that being them to Christ. Just like in marriage the love we show our spouse brings us closer together as a team but also brings us to Christ's love that a child a mother father wife husband should have in their home without the contention or worry that they will be in fear of sometime blowing up at them. We never know what a person is going through and love seems to be a barrier breaker.
