Mary and the Nativity

The Nativity scene is will known and we tell the story so much around Christmas of Christ's birth. I think about the travels Mary made and sacrificed being so far along to travel. Then to be told there is no room after room to be directed to the stable. The directions that God led Joseph and Mary to a place to sleep that would be room enough for those who came to worship would be able to fit. So much symbolism in the manger scene. But also so much of a willingness of a mother to share her son's birth with those around that were led to her. Even after birth how exhausted but joyful and willing to do God's will. Being announced through angels, through signs that Christ has finally been born to save us all.
As Joseph and Mary traveled to Bethlehem I wonder the agony and despair that was brought in trying to find a room. Being told there was no room in the inns for them. Then to find an innkeeper even though there was no room and just possibly praying in there hearts that they can find a place to stay and sleep. Then to be offered even though there was no room but the stable they could sleep. Makes me think how often in our own hearts do we find ourselves having no room in our hearts for the savior or to be a decent human being and show kindness towards another. Have you ever found yourself in that position? What have you done to get out of the slump of not opening your heart?
The birth of her son comes in the manger. The announcement is made and all came to worship her son the only begotten of our father in heaven in the flesh. How tired she must have been. Yet she was open to all the visitors that came. She still welcomed into the manger to share the miracle that just came. How does she show an example even after giving birth? Could you do the same and have strangers in your hospital room to share the birth of your child?
Many times in life we find ourself like the inn keeper closed no room for improvement. We find out hearts in disarray until we decide we have a room even if it's not in the inn it's still a place to offer. How do you take that opportunity to share what you learned by opening your heart? Then we have Mary 's example of being open to share with the world the birth of her child with those who came. The announcement went out among the world with signs in the heaven to show his birth.
