Deborah Rebekah's Nurse
Here We have a member of the family that isn't quit familyfamily she was Rebekah's nurse. Who know s exactly the reason Rebekah needed a nurse whether she was her wet nurse or a caregiver for her or what? We do know that from the time that she left her father's house she was sent with Rebekah. The other thing we know is she was sent by Rebekah to let Jacob know it was safe to return and on her journey back she died along the way. The family had great respect her that they stopped and remembered her at her gravesite.
She was sent to care for Rebekah away from her family. It seems that she was more than just a nurse to Rebekah but more like a mother figure. They had to of shared some sort of bond through everything that they have gone through. Back then set nurses had a high role in helping with raising and helping give nutrition to children whose mothers were unable to feed for themself. She was willing to go with Rebekah to her new home with isaac. How many of us would be willing to go with another to a strange land and look over them there still. How many of us grow find of an older person and look at them as a mother figure? How can we in our own life be a mother figure that another can look up to you as or go to you for need of help and service?
Do you ever think of the impact you can give to another person's child that you can build a bond of trust with them that you can be relied upon? My own mother and father I know helped a lot of people out. My sister ran into one of the neighbors one day and say there and talked to her. She remembers how my mom and dad would go to there house and help her single mom. She always felt the appreciation even got this day that another could do to help her family out. She said that when she gets the chance she tries to do it back for another. The examples that we can be even if we start still play a part in each person we meet. We can give all that we have to offer even if it's to go by to check to make sure another person is taken care of. How many times could we have impacted somebody in there life but turned away because we felt inadequate. What if that inadequacy really had to deal with just doing what we could do for another giving of our self and our talents by creating a bond that no one else could understand. Many times we meet people who his need that type of bond to know that they are seen in life and that a complete stranger or friend is willing to meet them there on there emotional battles in life or the inadequacy that we feel we can't do and help us get over that hump. It's possible that as she was sent away with rebekah she also help her raise her twin boys get through her pregnancy and just be like a mother figure. Rebekahs nurse was a life of servitude that more than likely transformed into love of each person individually. Her devotion to do what was required of her such as being sent to let Jacob know it was okay to return home did not go unseen. She gained the gratitude and respect from those she served. That they even took time to remember her at the place she was buried in the way back to Jacob a home.
Here service to the family was an act of love. She had to have faith that she would be able to do her best for the task at hand. She must have known something about god to be willing to take the steps necessary to be close to her work and do it so devout. How many of us would stick around through life and give the kind of service rebekahs nurse did for this family? She was loved by all that she impacted through the life she gave to them! How would you want your life to be remembered when that time comes or if someone was to say something about you?
