The Temptress to Joseph
Here is a story of the temptress in the scriptures of trying to get a righteous man (Joseph) of god to lay down with her even though she was married. Personally I think she shows how we can try to use our influence as a women for good or evil. Depending what we want our of the lusts of our hearts what we can make a goal and aim and go after.
Potipher's wife found the slave that her husband brought into her house attractive. She would make straightforward passes at him daily to lie down with her. Every single day she kept trying and trying even though her advanced never phased him and he kept denying her. The want of being turned down time after time again grew that she lusted more for Joseph. When she finally physically grabbed Joseph's garments causing him to run from the house. Leaving the raiment of his clothing in her hands. Calling all around her seeking revenge on Joseph saying he attacked her. Telling the story over and over again to those that would listen. Leaving now Joseph and Potipher's wife s date in the hand of potipher. A choice to believe his wife or discredit her. Lose his servant or keep his servant. What does a person do even when they are the truth in front of them? I know people always give the benefit of the doubt to someone that they love and trust that what they say is truth. How many times does someone tell us that we can't have something so we seek after it more and more? Our list grows for that temptation causing us to list after the thing that years Our souls down to nothing. How do we fight the temptation of want so we don't cause harm in another or ask them to compromise their own belief? How can we respect others wishes with our becoming lustful? As we see Joseph fleeing can we recognize the symbolism of being face with temptation we can still flee and show our values to hold out head strong. We must always keep alive that spark of consciences to our loyalties and faithfulness to god? What if was God that took away his word? Would we then list after his word to try to know more of him? Would it even be right to list after the word or is it better to seek after the Lord's word?
Many times I wonder when Joseph later became ruler of Egypt under pharoah whether Potipher's came along with his wife and asked forgiveness? Letting them know if the forgiveness he all ready have but also would he recognize God's hand in being placed in prison so he could save Egypt as will as the dream he had when younger of his family ruling over them to save them from the drought? Many times it seems we are place where we need to be even if it's not where we want. Many times we just need to open our hearts and see what God has in mind to continue on in his work. To either list after his word or seek after his word rightfully God gives us lessons to learn in ways to bring us more to him and his teachings? Choose you this day the way you want to learn of his word through lust ful learning or seeking the word in true meaning that Christ would want us for learn.
