Asenath
I've been reading online different things about Asenath. The different theories. There's even a story of Joseph and Asenath talking about Asenath's conversion to the gospel. In the story both of them thought of each other as worthy components to be married. Then she sees Joseph and like s what she sees. And she then contends with her own side and finally converts over to Joseph's God and then Joseph comes back and takes her to wife after three days. Because now she was worthy to be married.
Today while I was thinking on the stories that I had seen and asenath the thought crossed my mind " Joseph was taught by his mother and father the ways of god. It was instilled into him as a young child until he was sold into egypt. He recognized the truth of things for what they were by god. Being the reason he was able to help pharoah. So if Joseph had an understanding of listening to the holy ghost he would be able to listen to the holy spirit of who he should marry. He wouldve been led to a righteous women that God felt would be a good matriarch for the house of Israel which would be asenath. God still prepared others to learn of him in those days. He would still prepare someone to be a matriarch to the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh who were blessed by Jacob.
What a strong personality and strength she must have been to Joseph and to bare his children to be a part of the house of israel. I can see her being attracted to Joseph and taught by him what things God wanted her to posess. Maybe one of the reasons she was attracted to him was the spirit was with him to do the things God needed him to do. Making her conversion to god sweet. To trust in god himself and his teachings she had to of learned. I believe she gained a testimony of God and Joseph recognized it to take her as his wife. The two of them stood strong together in ruling of egypt. Too have the diversity of the two of where they taught from shows us that we can't always tell the outcome of God's plan until later in with the generations that follow us. Christ has a plan and what that plan is we must trust in him to follow through with his work. Asenath was meant to be a strong hold in Joseph's life and to be the mother to her children. God knew what type of comfort she would be to Joseph and what type of partner she would be in their marriage. When meeting of the brothers it makes me wonder if she knew before hand what Joseph was about to do maybe she even wondered why are you torturing these men to find out who they were to him. To rejoice with Joseph when he finally tells them who he is.
The love Asenath had to have standing in awe to the miracles that she seen with her husband. Must have been an overwhelming joy into their families lives. Her conversion to god no matter where it came from. Is her testimony and showing of her worthiness that she was right for Joseph and that God knew who she was and knew she would be a part of Israel's house. We just need to listen and follow those prompting we get to the direction we need to turn in our life when we ask God to lead us along the way.
How can we show our testimony through our actions towards others? How can put conversion to the gospel be a blessing to our families now and future generations? How can just being there be a support for a family member or spouse to give them strength to do what's right? How can you think of how God might all ready know your place in helping bring about his work to spread the gospel or whatever he needs you to do?
Many times in our own life we can have our own conversion to the gospel and towards god. Yet even when we have that conversion sometimes we can falter and fall back and the return again to him making even that new conversion more sweet. Asenath to me is a great example of being true to her husband, getting a testimony, conversion to the gospel, and standing behind her husband in love that she cherished him as will as living her sons. Even though not much is said about Asenath when you start to analyze who this women is that stood behind Joseph I believe we find a supportive wife. That wife loved her husband enough to know who God was and was understanding towards God's work through her husband. She knew God enough to encourage Joseph to keep living his commandments and be a guiding influence that she possessed and his have to her husband. How can we recognize in our own life the influence and help by being a support to keep following God's plan as outlined by God to do his work?
