Sariah Raising a Family
I've been thinking on Sariah and how to best sum her faith her trials all up. Can't really go any further than the trials she faced raising a family up and following a husband she seen as a visionary man. The thing that I can mainly tell though from Sariah She loves her family. She tried to read her children up into god.
Sariah gained a personal testimony in God's work and will that even raising her family up towards God sometimes seemed impossible. As mothers when there are other siblings we face just like Sariah rebellion one towards another. We see each direction of our children go towards God or even away from God and find ourselves torn. Sariah has to of home through different emotions with her children. Nephi portrayed his mom very will. He must have loved his mom a lot to include her sufferings i to his story of travel. The sons love of his mom leaving a big impact on hi a life and upbringing. What it took for his mom to raise them through all their trials.
Sariah acts to raise her family was done in faith. Making her story a personal witness of how everything we go through how the spirit can change us. Even when her older sons went against the younger sons her faith wasn't enough to diffuse the anger. To try to detract her children from fighting. To see the miracles from her amazing faith and only the trust that mothers day in God's hands on reading each child to fulfill their particular needs or even the prayers of the heart to get them to quit fighting for an intervention. She gained such a personal testimony in God's work with reading her children from having it all to being in the wilderness to traveling the ocean and then landing on the promises land. She was her children's prime example of how to act with their spouse, how to love each child, and to be an example of childrearing their own children. She gave them values to live by. Even though each child has a choice of which way they decided to go.
As she dwelt in the wilderness she showed her family that was
Walking in the unknown of God's commandment to leave to have trust. She shows us how great faith in the Lord can be hard to do but that we need to trust those that the lord speaks to such as her husband lehi.
Her love for her children must have caused much fear in her heart between her sons. HeR example of family rearing teaches each of us that families are not always picture perfect. Sibling rivalry and a Mothers concern go completely hand in hand with child raising. She shows us that even spouses fight and children do know what is going on. That comfort can be found inside the family when we let the lord in to help in the matter of teaching our children and being a better spouse. She was a mother in breaking up fights no matter how old her children were she loved them enough to not want them to harm each other. As mothers no matter what way we are raising our children we all struggle in teaching them right and wrong. If we are teaching concepts in our ho!e of being like Christ and bringing into our lives we struggle in teaching them Christ's commandments and to love one another. Daily we face the battles each day a new trial to install, devote, and plant the values and faith and leaning on Christ for his help. We like Sariah are our own children's first teachers of the way they should act. What we bring in the home by our example in raising the family does affect each child. We like Sariah raise our children to them go on their own to raise their children.
Nephi showing what his mother went through with them as a family teaches us that we can get through the dirty of the day the clean of the day and still survive. He shows that the love and bond mothers hold for each child goes far beyond child birth even into adulthood and that that unconditional love is real and that his mother wanted the best for them. Just like I know each mother who has a child wants the best for her child. She is shown as suffering afflictions and having children that cared for her. I think by him showing his mother's example in raising her family and concerns teaches us that we as mothers do have a right to feel helpless. That we can like Sariah turn to get comfort from Christ . We can let the miracles work inside our families and know they are real when they do happen. That he is helping in intervention to try to bring each one of our children's souls back to him. We can gain a testimony of God in our life and see his affects on our children when we allow our eyes spiritually to see the work he is playing. But the biggest thing I feel Sariah teaches us is it does take faith in raising a family but also great trust to work with those inside the family that they will be able to make decisions that are right decisions for everyone involved.
The other example she teaches us the three communication skills we can use with in the fAmily 1- act but don't react. Agree that the circumstance at hand needs a different aspect of being looked at. 2- comfort, which is crucial each person need to be able to be comforted right or wrong and their side of the story heard. 3- testify and teach, teaching becomes a matter of what can be done different the next time. How are actions can be made to help in the situation. To testify of our own learning what we can see happening that can be changed to show love towards another.
