Sariah Comforted By Lehi

Sariah Comforted By Lehi

1 Nephi 5:1-9 And it came to pass that after we had come down into the wilderness into our father, behold, he was filled with joy, and also my mother,Sariah was exceedingly glad, for she truly mourned because of us. For she had supposed that we had perished in the wilderness, and she also had complained against my father, telling him that he was a visionary man, saying: behold thou hast led us forth from the land of our inheritance, and my son's are no more, and we perish in the wilderness. And after this manner had my mother complained against my father. And it came to pass that my father spake into her saying: I know that I am a visionary man; for if I have not seen the things of God in vision i should not have known the goodness of god, but had carried at Jerusalem and had perished with my brethren. And after this manner of language did my father comfort my mother Sariah, concerning us, while we journeyed in the wilderness up to the land of Jerusalem to obtain the records of the jews.

In all Sariahs anger against her husband Lehi says the right words to calm her down. Confirming to her that he is a visionary man. Yet he even let's her know that if he didn't see what he did and know God's goodness they would be perished. Lehi let Sariah know that it was the lord he was really listening to and that he was only do I g the Lord's will which must of been the thing that really helped calm her down. She was also joyful to see her boys return back home safely after obtaining the plates.
How have you had someone try to comfort you in your life when a melt down happens? Do you ever think it's possible they pondered on how to help to say the right words that God might want you to hear in your time of need? Or have you taken those words and thought your just saying them and never appreciated the effort they are giving to minister that a t of kindness to you? When we even pray for an answer and the holy spirit answers our time of need how do we  react? Is it comforting or so you feel like there is nothing there? Is there a way for you to be more accepting of the  comfort that might come your way and appreciate the efforts of others?
To me Sariah gives us an example of how torment and wanting to protect her children can be a calming reaction when we allow others to comfort us. It also teaches how we  can let the lord in to accomplish the things that are needed. And when we seek comfort from the lord that we should be willing to take that sacrifice he gave for us the atonement. It's not just for our sins but also for our times of need. We can find great comfort in the Lord when we truly understand everything he has done for us to make it back home.
