Anna the Prophetess
Luke 2: 36And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;
37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
I can only imagine this woman Anna that worked her days in the temple serving others. They called her a prophetess who decided to speak for god and do his work in the temple. She was being an example with the prayers she prayed(makes you wonder if they had a prayer roll and that was her assignment to do was pray for the people.) She gave of herself through fasting for the needs of others. She never departed from the temple because she felt the work was great. When the time came she divinely aligned to meet and testify the baby brought to the temple by Joseph and Mary was the Christ child. The one that prophets spoke about that one day would come to redeem the world. Because her heart was prepared to seeing the baby Jesus she in an instant was able to testify to those around her that he has finally come to give redemption to Jerusalem. She was even able to give thanks in person for all he has done and will do in her life.
Anna's devotion to those she shared can be an example of how she tried to do as she felt the Lord would do. How many of us in life would serve our the rest of our lives in the temple giving freely to the Lord our service? Anna trusted God enough to be a devout servant of his in her life. She gave freely of her time and energy to serve others, by praying and fasting for them in a daily basis. She was constant in looking out for the needs that others brought in to the temple. Her heart was prepared to meet the savior because she was trying to follow his will and knew who she was with the Lord by her side. How many of us would recognize the savior like Anna because our hearts out in the right place?
Since Anna's heart was in the right place when Joseph and Mary came to the temple with the baby Jesus, their lives came intertwined with a divine alignment. She was given that divine assignment at a significant and strategic time to witness the baby and bare testimony of who he was exactly to all of us. She recognizes the savior to be the long awaited Messiah that prophets talked about. She was then able to testify that the prophecy that prophets has been fullfilled. Giving thanks to him. Her faith brought and discernment and being close to the spirit she possessed brought her to know she was laying her eyes upon the Messiah.
Anna served her days of being old in the temple. By serving for along time there we know she endured to the end and never have up on the Lord. Those she served who trusted Anna's word would be able to take the testimony she was sharing and now build on their own. She would be able to impact a lot of people around her to keep developing and trusting in Christ because of her devout work she gave. Letting them know that if they were committed in knowing the Lord they would be able to recognize him. She had the courage to produce a result that she could give a strong testimony that the child being held was the Messiah; the one sent to the world to redeem us all. Her patience and having herself aligned with God brought her direction, wisdom, faith, brought to her missionary work to go forward declaring glad tidings that he has finally been born for all to see. Being rewarded to finally see him in the flesh.
How can we divinely align our lives that we will recognize the savior? Have you ever felt when you meet someone that you were divinely intertwined to do God's work or have a miracle placed through them? Doo you think you could ensure to the end like Anna in serving God daily in his work? Anna must have felt being in the temple all her days a redemption from God to her personal act of love for others. How can serving others bring about that personal act of redemption of Christ's love for another from you? How can it show the love you have for others? How can put fasting produce results to know the savior better? How can we put our courage to stand strong daily as a witness of the lord plant a seed in the hearts of others and grow on our own testimonies of christ?
Whatever it may be that we choose to do service in the Lord's work we are planting daily seeds in others to get to know him. Our actions, our words, our seeds and the way we truly feel about the Lord is what bring others to him. God will bring those people, relationships into our lives that we can be divinely aligned to for his purpose to either share with them of christ or let them be a servant into us of his good work. Have you ever wondered why at times it seems we are divinely aligned with those in times of our life for things that we might need to keep growing in his word to help us endure to the end? Word for thought to think about how God can divinely align us to grow with the right tools to stand as a witness at all times in all place when we put our life right with him.
