A Study Guide on the Assurance of God’s "Relentless Pursuit"

Elder Eyre taught that truly knowing our divine identity fundamentally changes our lives. The greatest result of this knowledge is unshakeable faith in the Plan of Salvation because we stop seeing it as a test designed for the elite and start seeing it as a path lovingly designed by a Father who is actively trying to bring us back.

1. The Divine Paradox: The Plan is for Success

Elder Eyre’s message challenges the common misconception that God's plan is a series of hoops we might fail to jump through.

2. Atonement: The Ultimate Proof of God's Intent

The most profound evidence that the plan is designed to bring us home is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Elder Eyre highlighted the shift in the temple recommend question from asking if we have a testimony of Christ's role as Savior to asking if He is "your Savior and Redeemer."

  • Individual Salvation: The plan is personal. The Atonement is not a general policy; it is applied individually to you, to me, and to every member of your family.
  • Mighty to Save: Elder Eyre assured us that Christ is "mighty to save" and there is nothing we have done that cannot be forgiven and ultimately corrected. This truth removes the fear of unforgivable error and builds faith that the path home is always open through repentance.

3. Practical Steps: Improving Our Connection to the Plan

If the plan is designed to bring us home, our focus should be on strengthening the connection to the Architect of the plan through communication.

  • Preparation for Prayer: Elder Eyre encourages us to take time to prepare to talk to our Father through pondering and gratitude. When we treat prayer as a purposeful, two-way conversation, we can "feel more profoundly that we are His children."
  • Vertical Validation: This regular, intentional prayer confirms the divine relationship. When we hear the "still small voice," it validates our identity and purpose, reinforcing our belief that the plan is specifically designed for us.
