Spiritual Motherhood
Mathew 12:46-50, Mark 3:31-35: Background of verses: As Jesus was talking to the people his Mother and brethren steps about desiring to talk to him. Someone said to him Thu Mother and brethren wish to speak to you. He then answered and said unto the crowd " who is my mother? And who is my brethren? " Stretching his arms out towards his disciples and saying, " behold my mother and brethren! Good whosoever do the will of my father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, sister, and mother. "
How do Jesus words teach us of spiritual motherhood? So many times we forget that we are all related from Adam and Eve as our common ancestor. That to think how much our immediate family blood to that of our neighbor and a stranger can be so significant in the way we should share kindness. A lot of time we here that a person is family blood related or not blood related. In spiritual motherhood how can we wrap around those that need comfort? We don't have to be a mother as woman to show kindness to others. I even feel in love with one of the talks from a Sheri L Few " our motherhood begin before we were born. Just as worthy men were preordained to hold the priesthood. Righteous women were endowed perpetually with the privilege of motherhood. Motherhood is more than bearing children, though it is certainly that. It is the essence of who we are as women. It defines our very identity, our divine stature and nature, and the unique traits our father gave us. " We as women were born with such a divine quality to mother naturally. Sheri Dew also states " Motherhood is not what was left over after our father blessed his sons with priesthood ordination. It was the most annoying endowment He could give his daughters, a sacred trust that have women unparalleled role in helping His children keep their second estate As President J. Rueben Clark Jr. Declared, motherhood is " as divinely called, as eternally important in its place as the priesthood itself". " I know motherhood can be a touchy subject, but I have one of the best examples of my aunt who hasn't had children teaching us how to love as much as my own mother. She would help my mom out with us so often. We know my aunt's rules. They are shared a lot with my mom's beliefs. I know when we look at Jesus words we can see her he is rebuking his family or we can look at it as a teaching tool because he admired his earthly mother and the spirit she taught him and shared with others. Our families goes aren't always just blood but sharing with individuals the same values and desires. Many people we come across we attract that share the same values with that help keep metal alive. Encouraging each other to show how the savior would love. As we can gain from the saviors words that in motherhood is the acts we participate in that glorify God by faith and actions to take what we as women know how to do naturally "Love others and care for those around us". Jesus being concerned with the spiritual family used the example of his own mother to teach all of us how to use the gifts we have naturally endowed with, love,kindness, service, etc. But taking those gifts and putting them into action. How even the spiritual family is as important as those we have been born or put into. The family resemblance can spread far out from inside our home through hospitality to others in doing God's will. As Christ said if we o about doing his will we are related to him or by a matter of bloodline but by the manner of discipleship. As we learn to recognize our value as woman and realize he has not left us out of his great plan we are one of the greatest price in helping each other to make it back and know christ and god themself. Even to recognize the holy spirit more closely. As we sing the song I am a child of God we are reminded we are called his children. And as we follow Jesus we also learn everything changes and our value is completely part of an ongoing process. We are of value and he loves us. He just wants us to share those great gifts that all is women share naturally intuned with those motherly traits he endowed all women with.
