Jochebed

We have a new heroine in Jochebed a mother that will do what is needed to save her child. I think many of us find ourself as mothers in ways would save our child and become their real life hero. So many mothers play a part in history to save nations that come to god. Jochebed's part as Moses mother definitely played that part and wrote history in her son. We get to learn that Jochebed name means glory of Jehovah or Jehovah is her or our glory. What's in a name? Have you ever wondered that upon your names meaning. She worked a miracle in her clever design to preserve her son's life. Taking her distinct qualities that have her the courage to hide her son and then to be daring enough to build an ark and put him in the river where he could be found. Especially by the pharoah's daughter. With that strength and trust in the Lord that day she was able to save her son's life but also was given a chance to raise him and he an influential impact on those young years on teach...

The Samaritan Woman

The Well-Watered Woman The story of the Samaritan Woman the past few weeks has started to get more personal to me and my own life. The more I learn of her the more I see others opinions, the more I see my self. I wonder how at times we all night feel like this woman that Jesus showed kindness. How willing and loving was his teachings to her? Makes me wonder how can I be more open and receptive to his teachings? Is my heart ready and in the right place to hear the message he has for me like the Samaritan Woman was when she meet the savior at the well? We find her story in John 4:6-42 when Jesus told his disciples that they would go through Samaria. The disciples leave Jesus to go to the city to get meat to eat. As he was waiting a woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus asked her to give him some drink. The woman in return asked how he being a Jew ask of her a Samaritan and a woman for drink? I'm return telling him How the Jews had no dealings with the Samaritan. Her we s...

Nephite Wives that Grieve

We have a teaching by the prophet Jacob in the Book of Mormon on the wives that grieve because of their husbands, along with their children. The scriptures in Jacob 2: 31-35 it says:   31 For behold, I, the Lord, have seen the sorrow, and heard the mourning of the daughters of my people in the land of Jerusalem, yea, and in all the lands of my people, because of the wickedness and abominations of their husbands. 32 And I will not suffer, saith the Lord of Hosts, that the cries of the fair daughters of this people, which I have led out of the land of Jerusalem, shall come up unto me against the men of my people, saith the Lord of Hosts. 33 For they shall not lead away captive the daughters of my people because of their tenderness, save I shall visit them with a sore curse, even unto destruction; for they shall not commit whoredoms, like unto them of old, saith the Lord of Hosts. 34 And now behold, my brethren, ye know that these commandments were given to our father, Le...

Anna the Prophetess

Luke 2: 36And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; 37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. 38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem. I can only imagine this woman Anna that worked her days in the temple serving others. They called her a prophetess who decided to speak for god and do his work in the temple. She was being an example with the prayers she prayed(makes you wonder if they had a prayer roll and that was her assignment to do was pray for the people.) She gave of herself through fasting for the needs of others. She never departed from the temple because she felt the work was great. When the time came she divinely aligned to meet and tes...

Mary's at the Wedding of Canaan

John 2: 1-11; And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: 2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. 3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. 4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. 5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. 6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. 7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. 9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, 10 And saith unto him...
